I was born at 26 weeks in 1977. I developed ROP due to the complications of being born so early. I didn’t know I had any retinal problems until I was about 7 years old. I then had my first eye surgery when I was 8, this was to be followed by 3 more invasive surgeries (totaling scleral buckles on each eye, and vitrecomies in each eye). I am very fortunate that I am able to see well enough to drive.
