visual hallucinationsI am a new subscriber and assist my friend Betty who has wet macular degeneration (advanced) as well as dementia. Because of the dementia she is not able to enjoy such things as talking books because she has to first remember she has them and then remember how to operate the machine. Therefore she is very limited with not much to do. She lives in a retirement home where her meals are prepared, her apartment cleaned, her laundry done and has access to the beauty shop. While there are many activities there she is limited due to her vision.
Now she is experiencing visual hallucinations and I an wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to deal with it. This is not easy to do because due to her dementia she does not even remember what a dream is, so I do a lame job of trying to explain it. I have tried to assure her that she is fine and so far her visions are favorable, such a flowers, etc. It just started and I am anxious to know if they progress in severity. Any information will be gratefully received. I will report this occurence to her retinologist on her next appointment. Thanks, SAP
