agony of facial spasmhello. I just keep asking myself about this-how do i keep reminding myself that my girfriend’s facial spasm (her mouth pulled to the left, the bridge of her nose accents/swells with a kind of vein and her eyelids tends to shut )-whenever she smiles, frowns or laughs -is only a matter of “beauty is skin deep”?
I just feel shy whenever i’m going out with her but i do really care for her. Please help....Read the full article
Re: agony of facial spasmI also just experienced a hemi-facial spasm. It affected the left side of my face...and I was so embarassed to leave the house !! My Doctor prescribed me a medication called Baclofen. I was taking the max dosage of 80mg/day. It took almost 3 weeks to kick in, but my face is back to normal. Now all I need to do is start lowering the dose to wein myself off the medication. It does get better, you just need to be patient.
Take care...
Re: agony of facial spasmwow, your description sounds so familiar !
That's exactly how i USED to look. For years i no longer took photos. I was worried and embarrased when i had conversations with people because i never knew when the twiching would start. But it did start, that was a given. towards the end, the pulled mouth/nose/neck you are describing would remain like that for minutes it seemed. i had microvascular decompression surgery by Dr. Sohaib Kurshi in San Diego five years ago. It was a COMPLETE success. The problem was gone as soon as I woke up from anesthesia. Of course i was told this treatment is not guaranteed, but If it comes back, I have had several good years now where i don't have to worry about the embarrasing twiching that you know about. she should consider this surgery. ( i did the seizure meds., botox, acupuncture, etc. that did not work) Good luck, Angelica
