Overview of Blepharitis

Blepharitis is a noncontagious inflammation of the eyelids that usually affects the lower part of the lid and eyelashes. It is usually characterized by excess oil production in the meibomian glands near the eyelid, which creates a favorable environment for bacterial growth.
